🌵 Biden and Trump easily won Arizona’s presidential preference election.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Biden had 90% of Democrat votes, while Trump pulled in 78% of Republican votes. The only other candidate with a sizable showing was Nikki Haley, who won roughly 19% of Republican votes but has already suspended her campaign.
🌵 During a visit to Arizona Tuesday, President Biden announced $20 billion in support to Intel for semiconductor manufacturing.
The company will use the funds to support semiconductor manufacturing in four states, including Arizona. In Chandler, Intel is expected to create 3,000 manufacturing jobs and 7,000 construction jobs. Only 10% of the world’s semiconductor chips are made in the U.S., and none of those are the type needed for AI technologies.
🌵 Tucson will soon have a new city manager.
The city council voted 6-0 on Tuesday for Tim Thomure to take over when Mike Ortega departs this summer. Thomure is currently the deputy city manager and the former head of Tucson Water. The city council also began a process to fill the seat of Steve Kozachik, who plans to resign on March 31.

🌵 A man arrested after a fatal road rage shooting is claiming self-defense.
The incident occurred March 15 near East Snyder and North Houghton roads. Jason Jameson, 41, said that Jeffrey Honer, 47, got out of his car, approached Jameson’s vehicle, and punched Jameson in the face. Jameson then shot Honer while his back was turned. Jameson was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
🌵 Lastly, the Midtown Mercantile Merchants are moving to the old Bookmans location on Speedway.
The antique and vintage market, which has over 100 vendors, plans to close its current location near Speedway and Swan at the end of March. It will reopen in April at the old Bookmans location near Speedway and Country Club.
